The price quoted to you at the time of label creation, is a quotation only, and is based on the information entered. Once the courier has picked up the shipment, the parcel(s) will be remeasured, weighed and assessed, before delivery. If there are any variances between the information entered and what the courier has confirmed, this may result in additional charges and will be reflected in the final charge. ShipSimple will provide a weekly invoice summary and detailed breakdown outlining any applicable variances and the reasons for each.
Price differences are a result of a multitude of additional fees:
- Special Handling - covers the cost of expenses related to fulfillment, specifically packing fees based on required labor. It applies to shipments that are loaded by cubic space and/or packed in such a manner as to require additional labor/handling, such as ground unloading, constricted space unloading, designated piece unloading, carpet/pad only shipments or stacked shipments.
- Address Correction - If the package is going to a different destination instead of what was assigned on the label, the courier will ask for extra cost for the address correction.
- Adjustments to Dimensions & Weight - Couriers will re-weigh and re-measure each box to see if the information that was provided for the shipment is correct. If the package weighs more or the dimensional weight is higher than what is implied, there is additional fees.
- Fuel Surcharge - An extra fee, determined as a percentage of the base rate, charged by transport companies to allow for the fluctuating costs of fuel. It is intended to protect the carrier if the price of fuel rises during transport.
- Residential Delivery Charge - If the package is delivered to a residential address and was not implied, the courier can charge extra than what was invoiced to you.
