To ensure your shipments are properly protected by insurance, we require photos that document your item's pre-shipment condition and the quality of your packaging. This guide outlines our streamlined, 3-step process to capture everything you need quickly and efficiently.
Following these steps is the best way to guarantee a smooth claims process in the rare event of damage.
General Photography Tips
- Use Good Lighting: Take photos in a well-lit area to avoid shadows. Natural daylight is often best.
- Get Clear, Focused Shots: Ensure your photos are sharp and not blurry.
- Mind the File Size: For a successful upload, please ensure each photo is under 6MB and the total for all images does not exceed 25MB. Most photos taken on modern phones will be within this limit automatically.
- No Filters, Please: Use original, unedited photos. Alterations can affect your claim.
The 3 Essential Photos You Need
Follow these three steps to create a complete and efficient record of your shipment.
Photo 1: Product & Condition
This photo serves as the primary record of your item's condition before it was packed.
- Place your item on a plain, uncluttered background.
- Take at least one clear photo that shows the overall condition of the item. A shot from a diagonal angle is great for showing multiple sides at once.
For items with existing flaws: If your item is used or has a pre-existing scratch or mark, we highly recommend taking an additional photo as a close-up of that specific area.
Photo 2: Item Secured Inside the Box
This is the most important photo for proving your packaging is sufficient. It shows how the item is protected from impacts.
- Place the item in the center of the box and surround it with at least 2 inches of cushioning on all sides.
- Before sealing the box, take a photo looking down into it. The picture must clearly show the item nestled securely inside the protective material.
Photo 3: The Sealed & Labeled Package
This final photo connects all the evidence to your specific shipment.
- Seal the box completely with packing tape.
- Affix the shipping label firmly to the package.
- Take one clear photo of the sealed box.
- For freight/cargo, take images of how everything is secured.
Quick Checklist
Before uploading, confirm you have these three photos:
- Product: Shows the item and all packing supplies together.
- Item Secured: Shows the item cushioned inside the open box.
- Sealed: Shows the final, sealed package with a visible shipping label.
By providing these three consolidated photos, you create a powerful, time-stamped record that will help us process any potential claim quickly and effectively.
